BOOKKEEPER: Qualifications and Requirements

Accounting Associates are responsible for performing A/P, A/R, payroll and month-end closing services for our clients via their home computer. They must be self-motivated, detail oriented, able to work remotely and require minimal supervision, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an entrepreneurial approach to problem solving. The ability to prioritize multiple clients’ needs is a must. Accounting Associates must also have:

Four or more years bookkeeping experience

Experience providing A/R, A/P and payroll functions

Home office with separate work area, PC with Windows XP or later and high-speed internet access

An ability to dedicate uninterrupted time to clients during normal business hours

A high level of computer knowledge and organizational skills

Passed our test on QuickBooks and bookkeeping knowledge

References and pass our required background check

In addition, all our Accounting Associates are required to become certified QuickBooks Pro Advisors within six months of joining the Accountant Smart team.

LEAD ACCOUNTANT: Qualifications and Requirements

Reporting directly to the firm partners, Lead Accountants play a critical role in supporting Accountant Smart by leading the bookkeeper and accounting team in establishing and enforcing policies and procedures as well as providing assurance in the accuracy and fair representation of all financial reports prepared for our clients. All Accountant Smart bookkeepers and accountants work remotely from home offices in states throughout the U.S. However, this position is located in our corporate office in Redmond.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Provide assurance that internal financial reporting controls are in place and are working properly
• Establish and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
• Oversee daily operations of the outsourced accounting department staff including supervision, training and review of work performed by remotely located bookkeepers and accountants
• Oversee month-end and year-end closing process
• Review reconciled balance sheet accounts monthly
• Ensure issuance of complete and timely financial statements and management reports
• Ensure that vendor invoices are paid in a timely and accurate manner for all clients
• Other duties as requested

• Strong belief in and alignment with company values
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting frameworks
• Strong interpersonal skills to team well with partners, peers, clients and accounting staff
• Proven ability to think strategically, lead people and drive change in an organization
• Proven attention to detail with the ability meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
• Demonstrated organizational, leadership, time-management, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Demonstrated supervisory skills
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technology quickly

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA or audit experience (preferred)
• 3+ years accounting experience
• Experience using QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and Bill.com accounting systems (highly desired)
• Supervisory experience

CPA ACCOUNTANT: Qualifications and Requirements

CPA Accountants are responsible for building and managing a small team of Accounting Associates ensuring the team delivers timely and accurate results, and customer service exceeding our client’s expectations. Accounting teams provide services to more than one client. Accountants ensure teams are focused on servicing client needs and they are capable of picking up where another Associate left off. Accountants must also be able to:

Develop and refine procedures that maximize productivity and client satisfaction utilizing scalable web-based solutions.

Review monthly, quarterly and annual financial results with client’s over the phone or via web-conferencing tools.

Utilize financial statements and other analytical reports to drive monthly reviews and make recommendations to clients to improve operating results.

Add value to our client’s businesses by identifying business risks and suggesting mitigating control activities.

Review and approve monthly closing reports, journal entries, and reconciliations generated by Accounting Associates.

Provide real-time support as a client point-of-contact for our unlimited email & phone support offerings.

Delegate appropriate tasks to Accounting Associates while ensuring timely results are delivered to you.

As an Accountant Smart Accountant, you are charged with leading our client’s outsourced accounting team.

Additional skills requirements include:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting

CPA, or CPA candidate is preferred

A minimum of 15 years accounting experience

Authorization to work in the U.S.

Home office with separate work area, PC with Windows XP or later and high-speed internet access

An ability to dedicate uninterrupted time to clients during normal business hours

A high level of computer knowledge and organizational skills

References and pass our required background check
